1. Filter Coffee
Ingredients:
- Freshly ground coffee beans
- Filtered water
Equipment:
- Drip coffee maker
- Paper coffee filter
Instructions:
- Measure coffee: Use a standard ratio of 1 to 2 tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water.
- Grind coffee: Grind your coffee beans to a medium coarseness, similar to sea salt.
- Add water: Pour filtered water into the coffee maker's reservoir.
- Add coffee: Place the coffee filter in the basket and add the ground coffee.
- Start brewing: Turn on the coffee maker and let it complete the brewing process.
- Serve and enjoy: Pour the brewed coffee into your favorite mug and savor the rich flavor.
2. V60 Pourover
Ingredients:
- Freshly ground coffee beans
- Filtered water
Equipment:
- Hario V60 dripper
- V60 paper filter
- Kettle
- Scale
- Timer
Instructions:
- Boil water: Heat water to around 200°F (93°C).
- Rinse the filter: Place the V60 filter in the dripper, and pour hot water through to rinse and preheat.
- Add coffee: Measure and add medium-fine ground coffee (about 1 to 2 tablespoons per 6 ounces of water).
- Bloom: Pour a small amount of hot water over the coffee grounds to saturate them. Allow it to bloom for 30 seconds.
- Pour water: Slowly pour hot water in a circular motion over the coffee grounds. Maintain a steady pour, keeping the water level consistent.
- Finish pouring: Continue pouring until you reach the desired coffee volume.
- Serve and enjoy: Discard the filter, pour your freshly brewed coffee into a cup, and enjoy.
3. Sage Espresso Machine
Ingredients:
- Freshly ground espresso beans
Equipment:
- Sage espresso machine
- Espresso grinder
- Espresso tamper
- Scale
Instructions:
- Preheat: Turn on the espresso machine and allow it to reach the optimal brewing temperature.
- Grind coffee: Use a burr grinder to grind your coffee beans finely.
- Tamp coffee: Fill the portafilter with coffee grounds and tamp them down evenly with a firm pressure.
- Brew espresso: Lock the portafilter into the machine, start the shot, and let it run for about 25-30 seconds.
- Serve and enjoy: Pour the freshly brewed espresso into a pre-warmed cup and enjoy the rich, aromatic flavor.
4. Cafetière (French Press)
Ingredients:
- Coarsely ground coffee beans
- Hot water
Equipment:
- French press (cafetière)
- Timer
- Stirring utensil
Instructions:
- Measure coffee: Use a ratio of 1:15, one part coffee to 15 parts water.
- Add coffee: Add coarsely ground coffee to the French press.
- Add water: Pour hot water over the coffee grounds, ensuring all grounds are saturated.
- Stir: Use a wooden or plastic utensil to stir the coffee-water mixture.
- Steep: Place the lid on the French press and let the coffee steep for about 4 minutes.
- Press and serve: Slowly press down the plunger, separating the grounds from the liquid. Pour the coffee into your mug and enjoy.
5. Moka Pot
Ingredients:
- Coarsely ground coffee beans
- Water
Equipment:
- Moka pot
- Coffee grinder
- Scale
Instructions:
- Fill the bottom chamber: Fill the bottom chamber of the Moka pot with water up to the safety valve.
- Add coffee: Fill the filter basket with coarsely ground coffee, leveling it without compacting.
- Assemble: Screw the top and bottom chambers together securely.
- Heat: Place the Moka pot on medium heat, allowing the water to boil and coffee to percolate into the upper chamber.
- Serve and enjoy: Once the upper chamber is filled with coffee, remove from heat, pour into your cup, and enjoy the strong, concentrated flavor.
